Ice Cream Recall

Hershey's, Friendly's Ice Cream among Brands Recalled Over Listeria Risk

Totally Cool Recalls 65 Ice Cream Products

Over a dozen brands affected, including Friendly's and Hershey's

Maryland-based Totally Cool Inc. has recalled more than 65 ice cream products due to possible Listeria contamination. The recall affects products distributed through retail stores and home delivery nationwide. Not all products under these brands are included in the recall.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in collaboration with state and local partners, are investigating an outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections linked to the recalled products. Sixty products are affected by the recall, including ice cream cakes, sandwiches, and pints.

Symptoms of Listeria infection can include fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. In severe cases, the infection can spread to the bloodstream or brain, leading to serious illness or even death. Pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of developing severe Listeria infections.

Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled products are urged to return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund. They can also contact Totally Cool at 1-800-242-2949 for more information.
